The person who deals with Apparel Merchandise specifically for export purposes is known
as Apparel Merchandiser /Merchant.
IMPORTANCE OF EFFICIENT APPAREL MERCHANDISING IN THE FASHION BUSINESS:
Without efficient
merchandising, by a merchandiser, no order can be executed on time. If all
merchandiser procured as per the buyer’s required specification and garments
are produced as per the buyer’s quality standard but could not be shipped on time
is a bad quality garment and thereby Buyer may not take the garments which may
cause the STOCK LOT and will be liabilities in the bank. If the value of the
shipment is a huge amount then Bank may not agree/allow to open any more BB L/C
thereby the company may be closed.
If the merchandiser
understands his job and can do a constant follow-up on all of his fabric,
accessories, knitting, dyeing, printing, embroidery, production, and lab tests only
then the shipment can be made on time. Remember it is the merchandiser who
remains liable to execute the order from the very first day of receiving the product package until the realization of payment from the Buyer.
